Karachi Law & order case: SC orders police to go back on duty

KARACHI: Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry, while hearing the Karachi law and order case, Wednesday ordered the SHOs, other police officers, policemen and scores of police mobiles deployed at the Registry to go back in their areas and perform their routine duties.

 

The court said that Sindh IG, city police chief and a few concerned officers were asked to appear before the court, the rest of police force including the SHOs of almost all the city police stations should go back.

Justice Anwar Zaheer said that if the police officers from all the areas of the city keep sitting here, then who will provide security to the people. Your duty is to protect the people, we have not come here to disgrace anyone, he added. The court also ordered to remove the police mobiles stationed from the SC adjacent roads.

Sindh Advocate General clarifying his position said that his words were presented wrongly—he had talked about two million illegal immigrants. The court said that SC had ordered for the change of the constituency demarcated on ethnic basis. On which, Sindh AG said that new demarcation of constituencies at present was not possible, as without new census, new demarcation of constituencies could not be done.
