Karachi: Nine become target of gun-wielding killers |
KARACHI: At least nine people including activists of different political parties became victims of violence here on Tuesday night. One of the victims was Awami National Party’s office bearer Armanullah Jan, who was shot and dead in MPR Colony, while the other one namely Mujahid, who was killed on Martin Road was associated with MQM. MQM spokesman confirmed the death of worker. Reportedly, angry protestor stormed the roads in the wake of Martin Road murder and set a passenger bus ablaze. Also, men armed with automatic weapons fired hundreds of rounds in the air scaring the businessmen into closing their businesses for the day. Dozens of police then poured in and tried to take control of the situation. On the other hand ANP spokesman later condemned as well as confirmed the murder of office bearer. Demanding immediate apprehension of the killers, President ANP Sindh, Senator Shahi condemned the killing of Armanullah Jan. Senator Syed also appealed to his party workers not to let go of the calm and let the justice take its course. Later, two activists of a religious organization, who were shot and injured by unidentified gunmen last week, died in the hospital Tuesday night. Both the unfortunate victims, members of Pakistan Sunni Tehrik, came under attack on August 14 and 16 respectively. They were fighting for their lives for the last week but the wounds proved fatal in the end. In Sector Five J, New Karachi, one Ashraf was killed in front of his house. Firing in Baldia town claimed a woman’s life. A political activist, Aqib, was murdered on Jamshed Road. Gunmen also shot and injured two people in Lines Area, who succumbed to their wounds before rescuers could rush them to the hospital. The deceased were identified as Danish and Faraz. In Korangi (Dhai Number) a man named Zufiqar became the target of gun-wielding killers. |
